WTPT

WTPT Album ArtThe original concept for WTPT came way before podcasting, when Pokémon first debuted in America in the late 90s.  I was a teenager, experimenting with my first fan website.  I called it The Pokémon Times and along with it my friends and I recorded a radio show called WTPT (which was posted in WAV format, before MP3 became popular).

Many years later, when the new versions of the Pokémon games came out, one of my co-hosts from the defunct Gamestation Radio and I decided to start up our own Pokémon podcast because we felt there was a lack of good ones.

In August 2007, we started up our podcast and made the obvious choice of calling it WTPT along with a blog site called The Pokémon Times.  It quickly drew listeners from around the world and became the #1 most popular Pokémon podcast on the iTunes Music Store.  Thousands of unique visitors flocked to the site and listened to the podcast, hung out on our chat room to organize Pokémon battles and read our blog to keep up with the latest news,

In November 2008, we released the long awaited second version of the site on the WordPress platform, along with a new name: The Pallet Tribune.  We decided on this name so we could free ourselves from the constraints that come along with having the word “Pokémon” in your website title, while still keeping the initials “WTPT” for the podcast.  The new site includes forums, a store, an oekaki and lots more content.
